On May 9, the NCC hosted a "Thank a Nurse" Reception on Capitol Hill. This event comes as we celebrate National Nurses Week 2023. The reception was attended by House Nursing Caucus Co-Chair, Rep. Joyce (R-OH-14), House Nursing Caucus Vice Co-Chair and the newest nurse in Congress, Rep. Kiggans (R-VA-02), and Reps. D'Esposito (R-NY-04), Ross (D-NC-02), Schakowsky (D-IL-09) and Del. NCC Virtual Congressional Briefing and Roundtable Discussion during National Nurses Week
On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) held a virtual congressional briefing and roundtable discussion to highlight issues impacting nursing education, practice, and research. NCC members provided an overview to more than 100 guests, both on and off Capitol Hill, on trends within academic nursing and the workforce, while outlining requests to support our current and future nurses.

On Monday, October 4, 2021, the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, held a virtual briefing on the key findings and recommendations of the new National Academy of Medicine (NAM) report, The Future of Nursing 2020 – 2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity. The NAM report provides a blueprint for Congress and the federal government to reduce health disparities and advance health equity while strengthening and supporting our nation’s nurses. On May 7, the Nursing Community Coalition hosted a reception honoring the four million nurses across the nation. The “Thank A Nurse” reception was attended by nine Members of Congress, Representatives and Senators alike, in a bipartisan fashion. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from nurses across the profession on the work they do.

On December 7, 2017 the Nursing Community Coalition hosted a briefing titled "The Opioids Crisis: How Nursing Practices Save Lives." The briefing featured four nursing experts who each offered a different perspective on how the profession is on the front lines of saving patients impacted by opioid addiction. Rep Paul Tonko (D-NY) provided remarks at the briefing regarding his work with Rep Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) to introduce the Addiction Treatment Access Improvement Act of 2017.
